Baseball in Los Angeles
When it comes to America's favorite pastime, Los Angeles is doubly blessed as the home to two Major League Baseball teams: the Los Angeles Angels and the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers made L.A. their permanent home in 1958 and have since earned five World Series titles, in addition to the one they won in New York. The Angels have played in Los Angeles for over 100 years, although they have earned only one World Series title to date.
Basketball in Los Angeles
Los Angeles is also home to two very strong members of the National Basketball Association, the Lakers and the Clippers, as well as one of the best WNBA teams, the Sparks. The Lakers have called Los Angeles home for more than 50 years, and, in the history of the team, they have won a stunning 16 NBA Championships. Meanwhile, the Clippers moved to the City of Angels in 1984 and have yet to win an NBA Championship title, although they still get plenty of love from their L.A. fans. The Sparks, on the other hand, have won two WNBA Championships in just 14 years of play.
Hockey in Los Angeles
When it comes to National Hockey League representation, Los Angeles once again hosts two different professional teams: the Kings and the Ducks. The Anaheim Ducks play at the Honda Center while the Los Angeles Kings play at the Staples Center.
Soccer in Los Angeles
If you are looking for something a little different from the usual American sports standards, you can find it in Los Angeles, home to two of the best soccer franchises in the country: the Los Angeles Galaxy and Chivas USA. The Galaxy is perhaps most famous for signing David Beckham, although it won the MLS Cup twice before ever signing him. Despite an ongoing rivalry, both teams share their base of operation, The Home Depot Center.
